The "Hundred Syllable Mantra" (Tibetan: yik gya), is the evocation of Vajrasatva (Sanskrit: वज्रसत्त्व, Tibetan: Dorje Sempa, Diamond Being, Thunderbolt Being) the esoteric aspect of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra commonly associated with the student practitioner, as well as with the Sambhogakāya and purification practice. In Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist practice Ngondro (Sanskrit: Sādhanā), or preliminary practices, the "Hundred Syllable Mantra" is used in order to purify mind's defilements prior to undertaking more advanced tantric techniques.
